Child obesity heart disease risk

PATTERN eat the child should be monitored so that he is not overweight or obese. Because, according to latest research results, it was revealed that obesity in children is a sign that he is at risk of heart disease in later middle age.
In a study to monitor the overweight adolescents, found that their blood vessels were brought under rigid as well as conditions commonly found in adults with cardiovascular disease.
Research leader Kevin Harris, when the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2010, said that the condition was as if the aging process has occurred in their aorta.
"We were certainly surprised by this result which shows that the blood vessels of obese children has undergone rigid conditions," said Harris.
He then explained, "Aortic stiffness in obese children is an early indicator of cardiovascular disease."
The aorta is the largest artery in the human body that comes from the left ventricle of heart and brings oxygenated blood to all parts of the body in the systemic circulation.
Increased stiffness in the aorta usually occurs along with the addition of age and indicate a heart condition in the future.
The average age of children in this study is 13 years old. Harris and his colleagues evaluated 63 obese children and compared them with 55 children who had normal weight. In conducting this study, the researchers monitored blood pressure, lipids, and body mass index of children.
According to Harris, a normal aorta has an elastic quality that supports the flow of blood. "When the elasticity is lost, the aorta becomes stiff. That is then the potential to cause cardiovascular disease."
